Acoustic Endeavors, a wonderful musical group out of Roanoke, Virginia, has something to "crow about" with their project entitled On A Farm. Sixteen great tunes written by Warren Amberson and Kelly Green are some of the most fun I've heard in a while. Simple melodies with blissful harmonies, you will appreciate the calm and happy feelings they inspire in the heart. The group was founded in 1992 when Warren and Kelly wanted to promote their own original material. The band consists of Kelly Green on guitar and vocals; Warren on bass, mandolin, and vocals; John Lawless on banjo and vocals; Dewey Peters on guitar; an Billy Hurt on fiddle. Kelly, Warren and John have vocal talent-plus. The pickin' is solid, good acoustic music with various flavor, bluegrassy, bluesy, folksy, it's all there. This group has got it going on with On A Farm. Farm-fresh lyrics, down-home goodness and pluck-ability. Let me break it down for ya. On A Farm includes the following - soon to be standards - original songs: Hills Of Home - liked it a lot; Thanks Again - and again a lot; Last Time Today - country and swinging and cool...boot scoot; Berkley's Bottom - up-tempo instrumental; Let's Meet At His House - gospel and a good idea; Never Go Through This Again - nice job; All Those Pennies - keep ya smiling; True Love Takes Two - grassy, yeah baby!; Tennessee Iris - I'm moving; Young William -ooh cool instrumental; To You I Wed - a pretty wedding song; I Could Leave Here - ala Peter, Paul and Mary; Hoe This Row Alone - loved it; The Way Things Go - wow! Why do I think Kelly is a country Stevie Nicks on this?; Over In Heaven's Skies - up-tempo gospel; It Can't Be Right - makes you think, really deep. Kudos to Acoustic Endeavors. On A Farm is a treasure. BMP
