BLIND
CORN LIQUOR PICKERS
Anywhere Else?
BY SAMANTHA STURM
Not very traditional, but new and different, the Blind Corn Liquor Pickers show
their talent with instrumental breaks on Anywhere Else? The group is composed of
Joel Serdenis, Todd Anderson, Travis Young and Tom Fassas - and all sing. The
highlight of the instrumentation has to be Young’s banjo. He is highly talented
and makes it sound very easy to play excellent banjo music. There is also some
jug playing by The Royal Jug Head Choir - not something you hear everyday but a
nice change of pace for sure. One of the highlights is Bad Tom Smith, which gets
the album off to a great start. Another one is Once In A Lifetime, which some
will recognize as a cover. A nice change up to hear something that was once a
pop culture hit. Some people will find this album a little different than the
normal bluegrass album and others will love it. BMP
