BOBBY OSBORNE & THE ROCKY TOP X-PRESS
Try A Little Kindness
Rounder Records
BY ROBERT STEELMAN

Following Sonny Osborne's retirement in 2004, brother Bobby has once more found himself, breaking new ground as leader of the Rocky Top X-Press. Joining Bobby is fiddler and producer Glen Duncan, guitarist Bobby Osborne, Jr., banjoist Dana Cupp, Dobroist Tim Graves, and bassist Daryl Mosley. Although most of the songs are delivered in a straightforward bluegrass style, the material is gleaned from a variety of sources. In addition to the Glen Campbell inspired title cut, you'll hear Bill Anderson's Certain, along with Sunday Morning Coming Down from Kris Kristofferson. There is also some major yet effective genre jumping with Paul Simon's Father and Daughter. Traditionalists will revel in The Fields Have Turned Brown. BMP
