Daniel & Amy Carwile

Carwile Music

BY ROBERT STEELMAN

This husband and wife team offers a showpiece of musicianship rarely heard these days and you hear the best they have to offer. Each of these songs is intricately assembled into ear-pleasing works of art. Many of the cuts are medleys, combining two or three songs of a similar style for a wonderful effect. One sure to be a favorite among the bluegrass faithful is Tate’s Creek/Brown County Breakdown, the second half inspired by the Kenny Baker version of the Bill Monroe tune. Amy exhibits her vocal talent on the swinging Exactly Like You. Hot Java may go a bit further into left field than some like, but it is another definitive show of talent. Though Daniel’s primary instrument is the fiddle, the credits list him on no less than 10 instruments. Amy contributes fiddle and some piano work. Regardless of one’s tastes, there’s absolutely no denying the talent here. BMP
