DOYLE LAWSON & QUICKSILVER
He Lives In Me

Horizon Records
BY ROBERT STEELMAN

"Doyle sets his own bar and he's the only one who can raise it further."

I keep thinking that one of these days I'm going to rip the cellophane off of a Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver CD, pop it into the player, and be disappointed. It hasn't happened yet and it's beginning to appear very unlikely that it ever will. This effort is solid and effective. Doyle sets his own bar and he's the only one who can raise it further. This latest of many releases occurs at a time of transition as Barry Scott leaves and Darren Beachley comes in. He Lives In Me from Horizon Records - a division of Crossroads Music - suffers no ill effects from this personnel change. In fact, it may be stronger because there are cuts featuring both. Quicksilver currently consists of Terry Baucom, Jamie Dailey, Darren Beachley, and Mike Hartgrove. In addition to these, Jesse Stockman and David Johnson are present on fiddles. No one can arrange a gospel song like Doyle Lawson. He knows music and knows how to utilize the talents of his band mates. The title cut, He Lives In Me, sets the tone and the pace for the entire CD. 'Til I See You Face To Face will excite fans of a capella singing - a DL&Q trademark. Other songs include In His Presence, I Am On My Journey Home, Remember My Name In Your Prayers, Help Me Lord, There's A Treasure In Heaven, The End Of The Road, Will You Meet Me Over Yonder, We Shall Inherit, Far Better Than This, and When He Welcomes Me.
