Honi Deaton’s latest CD Chasin’ Dreams certainly showcases Honi’s considerable vocal talents and there is no need for guest stars on this recording; the band as it is configured all present top-notch performances both vocally and instrumentally. Combine a premium mix of interesting new arrangements and well-written originals and the tone is set from the first note to the last. I was particularly impressed with the terrific kick-off to Mystery Train and an interesting interpretation of Just A Closer Walk, which has a wonderful swing feel to it. Even the a capella performance was flawless. This project is a dream to hear. Other songs include Freedom, Via Dolorosa, Wagons West, Ain’t No Grave, The Diaper Song, I Don’t Need A Thing At All, I Wonder If Our Love’s The Healing Kind, Caldwell/Angelina The Baker Medley, I Wanna Come Home.
