Nicholasville, KY - Bluegrass
Music Profiles (BMP)
magazine’s November-December 2006 issue
honors the Women In Bluegrass.
This first-annual issue features a cover
interview with seven-time IBMA Female
Vocalist Rhonda Vincent.
Rhonda discusses her new Christmas album
as well as how she looks at the
controversy created by her All
American Bluegrass Girl CD cover.
The
issue also features an in-depth
discussion with Claire Lynch
in which she opens up about the reasons
for her absence from touring and
recording and why she named her new
project New Day.
Dale Ann Bradley and
Alison Brown detail
their involvement with Compass Records;
Alecia Nugent talks
about her background, favorite singers
and recent projects; IBMA Bass Player of
the Year Missy Raines
offers glimpses into her bass
influences, plans for the future and
where she got her 1937 Kay bass;
Martha Adcock explains why her
and husband Eddie are excited to have
their own studio; Sandy
Cherryholmes reveals what’s on
her list of favorites; and The Daughters
Of Bluegrass' Dixie Hall
and Lorraine Jordan
talk about the meaning and making of
Back to the Well.
BMP’s Fresh For The Pickin’ record
reviews section continues the all-girls
theme and you’ll find reviews on the
latest projects by Valerie
Smith, Carrie Hassler, April Verch,
Casey and Chris Henry, Heather Berry,
Olivia Smiley, Adrienne Young, Ruby
Jane, Misty River, Tonya Lowman,
and The Lewis Family,
as well as the new ones by
Lorraine, Claire, and
Dale Ann.
“One of BMP’s goals is to provide
timely, personal interviews with the
bluegrass music industry’s leading
artists and we definitely achieved this
goal with our 1st-Annual Women In
Bluegrass issue,” said BMP Publisher
Kevin Kerfoot. “Rhonda Vincent is the
reigning IBMA Female Vocalist of the
Year and Missy Raines is the reigning
IBMA Bass Player of the Year. Dale Ann
Bradley, Lorraine Jordan, and Dixie Hall
and their involvement with The Daughters
Of Bluegrass’ Back To The Well
project also received an IBMA nod for
IBMA Recorded Event of the Year; and
Sandy Cherryholmes and her family were
the 2005 IBMA Entertainers of the Year.
Claire Lynch and Alecia Nugent’s
projects have also been very visible on
the bluegrass charts this year. Readers
will enjoy getting caught up on what all
these wonderful ladies are doing in
bluegrass music.”
“I
hope this issue and all the ones before
and after it emphasize the passion we
have for bluegrass artists and fans and
the timely news and articles we strive
to present,” Kerfoot added. “Our
September issue featured a seven-page
interview with Earl Scruggs, and is
still available by going to our website.
Over the past four years BMP has
presented personal interviews with
virtually all of the top bluegrass
artists and our goal is to continue. We
have a lot of loyal subscribers and
artists that support our magazine and
every day someone new finds out about
BMP and tells us how much they enjoy
what we are doing. For the bluegrass
fans that don’t know about us yet I hope
they will go to our website and learn
more about what we have to offer. We
have a lot more planned and invite all
bluegrass fans to read BMP.”
