Robert Montgomery
Warm and Windy
All Under One Hat Productions

By Robert Steelman

Robert Montgomery undertakes a Herculean task with this solo effort.  This Auburn University graduate has compiled a recording of no less than 24 numbers, mostly instrumentals, performed totally by him.  Montgomery is a champion old-time banjoist after the style of Uncle Dave Macon and Grandpa Jones.  But he doesn't stop there he offers up several numbers featuring guitar leads in the style of Merle Travis.  Through the “miracle of modern recording techniques” he also provides his own bass work.

This CD is a value if for no other reason than the sheer number of cuts offered.

(Songs include: Windy and Warm, John Henry, Way Down Yonder in New Orleans, Arkansas Traveler, Old Dan Tucker, Victory Rag, Sugar Moon, Knoxville Blues, Bully of the Town, Nine Pound Hammer, Amos Johnson Rag, I Don't Love Nobody, Fuller Blues, Cannonball Rag, Cripple Creek, What Will I Do?, Buckdancer’s Choice, The Notre Dame Victory March, Cannonball Blues, Bar-b-que Rag, Old Joe Clark, Turkey in the Straw, Low and Lonely, and God Be With You Till We Meet Again  BMP
